And you are done. Once the new user logs into his Search Console, he should see your website in the property drop-down.

Let’s now understand the 3 types of user permissions in Google Search Console.

Google Search Console user permissions

There are 3 types of user permissions in Google Search Console: Owner, Full, and Restricted. Let’s understand each one of them in detail:

Owner user permission in Google Search Console

Owner is like the admin. Users with owner permission can do all administrative tasks. There are two sub-categories in owners: Verfied Owners and Delegated Onwers.

Verified Owners in Google Search Console

Verified Owners are those who verified ownership of the site using a token. You can read my blog on Google Search Console setup to know more about verifying ownership and tokens.

You can think of them as the super admins of the Google Search Console.

Delegated Owners in Google Search Console

Delegated Owners can do most administrative tasks in Google Search Console, except a delegated owner can’t remove a verified owner. While verified owners can remove delegated owners.

Full user permission in Google Search Console

Full user permissions allow the user to take some housekeeping actions on the Google Search Console. This basically involves things like submitting URLs for indexing, validating fixes for the page errors that Google encountered during crawling, processing or indexing, and so on.

Restricted user permission in Google Search Console

Restricted user is the most limited amount of permissions you would give. A Restricted user in Google Search Console can only view data on the dashboard and cannot take any action on it. You should use this option as default while adding a new user to the dashboard.

Many digital marketers except ones who are actively doing SEO for you, can work with restricted access in Google Search Console.

How to remove a user from Google Search Console

To remove any user from the Google Search Console, simply go back to Settings > Users and Permissions. Click on the three-dot menu on the right side of the user you want to remove and choose “Remove Access”.

Note that only Owners can remove a user from Google Search Console.
